Pane di Altamura: Panificio Di Gesù

Altamura holds a special place in my heart. I lived there for a winter when I was 25 while “working” as an au pair with a family that changed my life (but who am I kidding, I wasn’t really working—I was treated like the American cousin who got to play at the kids table, instantly a part of their family). Apullian warmth and hospitality (and food!!) touched my heart forever. On my last visit, I took my camera to the famous Panificio Di Gesù and they let me document the bakery that slings focaccia and bread daily. The full essay and some images were then published on Italy Segreta.
