GeorgiA’s Spanakopita

Georgia, a Greek cook based in BCN.

She was one of the first people I met here, a month after I had moved. She had followed me on IG, and I was looking for food friends so it was perfect timing. A DM later we were getting coffee and it was clear there was creative synergy. I had an assignment for a course in my Masters in Photography and decided to collaborate with Georgia for it. I wanted to shoot an editorial piece, centered around her Greek roots, so she made me her mom’s spanakopita as I photographed the mess she was making in her dining room. The smell of fresh herbs brought me back to my grandmother’s kitchen in Tehran and the images came out exactly as I was hoping for.
